What We Value
IPS was founded on a strong belief in sustainability and environmental awareness. Our focus on recovering, repairing and reusing wooden pallets is central to how we operate. Prolonging the life of wooden pallets saves them from prematurely ending up in landfill sites/incineration, thus reducing waste and minimizing the impact on the environment. Many of our plastic pallet options are made from reused materials and are 100% recyclable. Pallets made from ‘hard to recycle’ plastic are designed to be used multiple times and have exceptional life-spans. Additionally, we value efficiency in our logistics and predominantly use ‘empty miles’ journeys for return loads, ensuring we are making the most out of each trip. IPS is committed to finding the most efficient and eco-friendly solutions for your business.
01
Sustainability
At IPS, we believe in operating in a sustainable manner, reducing our impact on the environment and promoting eco-friendly practices. Recover, repair, re-use is the basis of our business model. Choosing to buy and sell reconditioned pallets is a sustainable approach to recycling: we contribute to a circular economy that promotes the efficient use of resources and reduces waste.
02
Sustainable Materials
Wood is a sustainable and environmentally favourable material. 50% of the dry weight of wood is carbon which remains stored for the life of the product. Opting to buy reconditioned pallets/selling excess pallets extends the life of the pallets up to 3-5 years, thus greatly reducing CO2 emissions. Today, the vast majority of plastic pallets are made from recycled material and at the end of their life they can be ground down to granules to be recycled once again. They have a life-span of up to 10 years.
03
Efficient Logistics
With an extensive network of pallet depots through-out Europe rather than one central location our pallets travel less miles. This saves transport costs and CO2 emissions.
Where possible we aim to use ‘return loads’, utilising otherwise empty miles. Again saving transport costs and CO2 emissions.
04
Sustainable Partnerships
We partner with other companies and organizations that share our commitment to environmental responsibility. By working together, we can develop innovative solutions to reduce our collective impact on the environment and promote sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.
05
Innovative Solutions
We are always seeking innovative solutions to improve our processes, increase efficiency and streamline business practices. Increased efficiency in turn leads to waste reduction, whether this is time, energy or materials. Implementing the most up-to-date technologies is a top priority in our business and a lot of investment is made in research and development.
06
Carbon Reduction
Our company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint . Our company vehicles are now almost all exclusively electric and our office buildings are run on solar electricity and air source heat pumps. If we all make small steps in the right direction we can effect a big change together.
Our Story
International Pallet Supplies was established in 1999 as an Anglo-Dutch partnership. Coming from a background in logistics and environmental science it was felt that the pallet industry was not fully meeting the needs of many of its customers. European customers needed an efficient, cost-effective and reliable solution to their pallet requirements over multiple locations and this wasn’t always being met. There were areas in the supply chain where pallets could be recovered, repaired and re-used, ultimately bringing increased savings and efficiencies as well as inherent environmental benefits. It was the aim of IPS to establish a large and reliable network of pallet manufactures, pallet supplies and logistic companies that could be adequately coordinated to make these industry improvements.
Now ,over 20 years later, with yards in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany and a powerful network of over 100 other pallet sites throughout Europe , IPS Ltd has placed itself firmly in the centre of the European pallet industry. Typically recovering and supplying between 90,000 -100,000 pallets per month, year-round, we pride ourselves on the services we provide and the environmental benefits achieved.
